    Funny thing about them adding all the new Magatsuhi skills, I just straight up didn't use that shit. I didn't even get the achievement for using them 20 times. Because regenerating MP every single turn was just so useful. I think I used some nuke Magatsuhi skill twice on bosses to ensure I take them down on that turn, and the auto crit maybe 4 times in early game.

    Hey Marsh, huge fan. Watched this video when it came out and wanted to let you know that it's the most consistent sleep aid ever, and that sounds rude but I mean it with the utmost kindness. Like four times this week I've skipped to the Last Bible Special section of this video, turned my screen off and fallen asleep within five minutes. I don't know what it is about that dogshit game that works on me but it's unmatched. Love this video on these two stupid games, I remember it carrying me through some horrible shifts at my last job (alongside a lot of your other videos).

    Great video as always! I was really interested to see what they did with the story as it was my biggest let down of the original SMTV, but I am really bummed it isn't integrated. It doesn't seem like there's much of a point to play Creation if Vengeance does pretty much everything better. Vengeance having a lack of a neutral is also kind of a bummer; do Nuwa/Yakumo even exist or show up?

  • @lazyassassin267
    @lazyassassin267 2 дня назад

    Just finished a back to back rilun of of both CoC and CoV. Played both for the first time through. And I have to say the Canon of Vengeance really feels like Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood in a lot of ways. The story for CoV was better, but I'd still say to people to play CoC first to get an idea of 'how the story is supposed to go'. Enjoying CoV, like FMA:B, seems predicated on having experienced the original story. You miss out on a few things in Vengeance(like Abdiel's fall and Yakumo's backstory) that are covered in the other route.

  • @Xx_HD_xX
    @Xx_HD_xX 2 дня назад

    I feel like a huge missed opportunity would have been since you can enlist the Demi-Fiend as a party member (& he's still hard to fight) it would have been great to reward players with a big twist with the fight against Lucifer if he would be in your party. Have something be drastically different & even lead to a third hidden ending. Hell, it would have been great to even have Stephen involved. Sadly, they just phoned it in.

  • @gotinogaden
    @gotinogaden 2 дня назад

    I like how they've retained Lucifer's role in the plot and integrated him in the new story, never letting the player off the hook until they decide how to best deal with the Mandala System (which is Nahobino's true purpose for existing). What I disliked was the fact that CoV had only 2 endings, none of which jives very well with the established narrative points - both Tao and Yoko had been more or less on the side of factions that engaged in mass murders and destruction. Kei himself experienced personal loss throughout the ordeal. For me, the "Vengeance" part would have been a true neutral ending, one in which you eliminate both of them and then go on to recreate the world all by yourself.

    I think I agree with the thoughts about the environments. The sand wasn't fun to explore, and the whole world being deserted while being told that massive wars are raging gave me a weird feeling of isolation or separation from the plot, like Neo stuck in that looping subway station.

    I liked that we got human party. O.G. V felt like i was on my own. What i like a out this new game is that its up to you to customize your playthrough. I for one want to not use fusion and only recruit demons that i help in a quest and they ask me to come with them. It makes the gameplay more limited. If anything, i am thinking of going back to V and not VV.

  •  3 дня назад

    I suppose I don't mind rocking the same team of demons the whole game as long as you put in the effort to make them work. I definitely put in about 200 hours refusing, and rebuying demons to farm essences to fine-tune the demons I like. I feel like this problem was more appearant in Nocturne though since you could get Daisojou at around the mid 30s and literally never take him off your team because of how hard they pushed the Fiend demons.

    As someone who bought 5 when it first came out, I fucking hate Vengance. When it was announced i was somewhat hopeful it would be treated like an expansion and I'd be able to get it without having to buy an entirely new game and lose all my progress. Hearing about all the changes made me doubt they'd do that (I also knew deep down that wouldn't be the case because of P5R) because it seems like they were changing a lot. THEN I FOUND OUT ALL THE NEW SHIT IS IN AN ENTIRELY SEPERATE CAMPAIGN SO THIS COULD HAVE BEEN AN EXPANSION AND BALANCE PATHC, FUCK YOU ATLUS. The save data bonuses if you get V on switch feel like such a slap in the face, it's literally just stat boosters and your active party and only your active party gets added to the compendium. That's so insulting to people who bought vanilla. Now I know not to buy anything ATlus puts out cause fuck them.

    I think on the note of fusion I really do hope they find a way to balance this stuff out because I think demon haunts are a great idea but I think they should either limit the amount of stat upgrades per demons or outright get rid of them maybe they can have demons exclusively give out items. Maybe have them give out the stat boosting items but make it so you can only get them from the haunts instead of scattered throughout the world idk I’m just spit balling some ideas maybe the best choice is probably the removal of stat booster in general. I think fusion is a core of the series and it be a bit of a shame to have its importance scaled back.

      The Neutral Ending of IV doesn't talk about "seizing the throne of creation and recreating the world in your image" the entire game, only to say the universe itself is hardcoded to ensure decisions never matter. IV's story is all about systemic issues perpetuated by those with power to chew up and spit out people for personal gain through propaganda and lies, you know, just like in real life. Masakado is literally just pointing out the reality that humans are flawed beings and are doomed to repeat history if they don't learn from it and work with each other, not "oh by the way the universe itself will conspire against you to undo all your hard work lmao bye" If IV is slop, when it is just a natural continuation of the themes and philosophical ideas and themes presented in SMT I and II, then idk what to tell you lmao

    • @disco8972
      @disco8972 2 дня назад

      @@erulight2057 The fact that the conflict between law and chaos will continue is clear to me, but smt 1 or 2 didn't give you a floating head saying "Fuck you for being happy you achieved something, humanity is LE BAD and it will one day fuck up again. Stop having fun". IV's story is shit, with awful and boring side characters and edgy nihilistic garbage like akshually humans are the real demons. Just because is didn't stray away from the themes of the games before it doesn't mean it's automaticaly good.

    • @erulight2057
      @erulight2057 2 дня назад

      @@disco8972 The way you're talking about the story just makes me think you have a very poor understanding of its concepts and of real-life history/human behavior. If you walk away from the game thinking it's saying, "Humanity bad," when the entire game's main aesthetic is the contrasting Black and White colors (commonly associated with Law and Chaos in the game, where the point is to find the grey, just like SMT 1 with the concept of balance), the way the Akiras in Blasted and Infernal Tokyo are genuinely truly kind people despite the world they have to endure, or the ending having people of different cultures literally coming together, then you did not understand the story. Calling it Nihilist when the refutation of The White is such an important part of the story for 3/4 endings. It's especially relevant for the Neutral ending, too, because it is a direct response to The White's nihilism by saying "Things may never change, sure, but that won't stop me from doing my best for people I love that exist here and now." The White's ideology grabs the concept of SMT II's neutral ending, tries to tear it down, and IV's neutral ending doubles down and says, "Despite all the pain, it's still the right choice." That's why the first quest you get after the neutral path is literally called "With Complete Understanding." Humans are product of their environment and what came before them. The game's constant usage of putting children in terrible situations due to authority figures that don't care for them (18 year olds being put in military in Mikado, Tayama in general, Walter and Jonathan experiencing ego death for Merkabah and Lucifer) and the focus on cycles and repetition all tie into the main themes of the game. If you actually think Masakado saying humans are flawed creatures -> the sun literally shining on everyone that was under Tokyo -> the Goddess of Tokyo being revived is a statement on humans being the real monsters, when Strange Journey is the actual game that does that, then idk what to tell you LMAO

    • @disco8972
      @disco8972 2 дня назад

      @@erulight2057 I think I have a pretty decent understanding of human behavior, cause I actually go outside instead of writting pages how a below mediocre game is actually the smartest thing ever. Also IV is absolutely mogged by Apocalypse in every single way, just a small reminder.

    • @MarshSMT
      @MarshSMT 4 дня назад

      The way I see it the older games like Nocturne had no difficulty modes, so everyone got the same experience regardless if you did superbosses or not. Now when you have things like godborn they have to try and balance the game for that which makes the other difficulties far easier. I understand a modern game will probably have that kind of thing, but when the "Normal" baseline is so easy it's a noticeable change and worth talking about
